DUCKS PLENTIFUL
SPORT ON THE WAIRARAPA LAKE. Mr Frank Dyer, who recently returned from a trip to the Wairarapa lake, states that grey duck are plentiful, but owing to the lake being high on the opening day bags have not been ae large as was anticipated, though some very good carries were made. Since the lake has been opened up at the mouth it has been going down rapidly, and theie should be a big improvement in consequence. The number of young ducks seer, bas attracted many sportsmen, andaugurs well for next season. ■ Mr Dyer noticed that tbe regulations for the protection of pnkaka and bittern were not being, observed as strictly as ehould be the case by some people who call themselves sportsmen. Mr Dyer considers that the South Wairarapa Acclimatisation Society would be well advised to keep a look-out for offelidert.
