The Itandard of quality of the sheep offered Was not very but notwithstanding, the prices were firmer generally, best sheep being fully 2s per heed better than last sale. Pat cat tic and lambs, and also pigs sold at prices lately ruling. Pat Cattle. —A good yarding of medium quality, a total of 137 head being offered for-sale. The sale opened under a fair competition at prices equal to late rates. Unfinished sorts were easier, and i-rime beef barely touched DUS 6u per 1001 b. Prime bullocks realised from Ml? 10s to M2O 10b, medium Ml 3 to Ml 6 10s, light and unfinished sorts from 299 upwards Prime heifers from 2913 to Al 5, medium 299 to JQ2, light and aged from 296 10s upwards. Store Cattle.—A fair yarding, and among the number penned were' some well-bred and forward three and four-year-old steers. For this class of animal competition was somewhat bettea than of late, bat for young and backward conditioned cattle competition showed no improvement. For extra good and wellbred steers up to 298 10s was realised. Pat Sheep.—A large yarding, 3624 being penned, and the quality in most cases was medium. Prices for/prime wethers and ewes showed an advance of 2s per head, compared with last week’s rates, prime wether mutton being worth 3jd to 4d per lb, and ewe. mutton in the vicinity of 3d. Extra prime wethers made up to 30s 6a, prime 24e to 265, medium 18s to 20s. inferior 14e to 15s 6d; best ewes 18e to 20s, medium 12s 6d to 14s, inferior to to 11s. Pat Lambs.—A large yarding, 2328 being penned. The quality was better than that of the previous week, and prices consequently snowed an advanoe of from la to 2b per head. The demand was keen. Beet lambs made from 19s to 21 s. extra 25s (equal to 6d per lb), medium Ids to 1756 d, inferior 7s to lls. WBLLINGTON~CDBTOMS. The Customs revenue received fct Wellington yesterday totalled X 6878 15s. The auction sale held at the rooms of Harcourt and Co. yesterday was well attended, and bidding generally was brisk. The down quilts offered were eagerly competed for. eventually going at elightly under Wholesale prices. There was a good demand for shadow tissues at average prices, while lace curtains found a ready market. Fillete s*nd- Swiss patterns were keenly sought after, and a short line of Swiss embroideries was well competed for.
