With respect to the cabled summary of Sir James Allen’s article in the “Manchester Guardian,” in. which he is reported to have stated that there is practically no difference between the Libeftil and Labour parties in New Zealand, Mr P. Fraser, M.P., national president of the New Zealand Labour Party, made a statement yesterday. Mr Fraser assented that the article must have been inaccurately summarised and that the High Commissioner intended to* convey that there was practically no difference between the Liberal and Reform parties. Such a statement, said Mr Fraser, would have been quite in line with some of Sir James Allen’s previous utterances, and would merely emphasise, the opinions expressed by other members of the Reform Party. As to Mr Wilford’s protest, Mr Fraser generally criticised the Liberal Leader respecting the latter’s references to loyalty and his views on .Sovietism and Communism.
A Sydney cable message states that the man Coley, who wa® charged with the murder of Gertrude McGrath, in .December, was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
