The necessity for preventing Chinese competition in the furniture tirade is | continuing to receive the attention of the United Furniture Trades Federation. Chinese are known to be working in the trade in Auckland, and it is desired to put a check on their activities in the Dominion. Inquiries are being. made in Australia, and when the desired information comes to hand a further meeting of the executive of the New Zealand will be held to consider what action shall be pursued. The Ceylon tea market has shown a firm tendency during the past few days, and prices are well maintained. The quality is reported as excellent.
