OUR BRAVE BEAD
ROLL OF HONOUR. UNVEILED. CAMBRIDGE TERRACE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH. At the Cambrddg-e terrace Congregational Church yesterday I afternoon Major-General Sir Alfred Robin, K.0.M.G.; C. 8., unveiled, on the occasion of the ,33rd anniversary of the church, the roll of honour and memorial tablet to the 31 nien connected with the church who served in. the Great War. Of these five were tilled in action, two were wounded, and two were made prisoners. There was a good attendance, among those present .being the new Mavor (Mr R. A. Wright, M.P.), and Colonel Mitchell, M.P., "the ■latter being in uniform. The service, which was of an impressive character, was conducted by the pastor of the church, the Rev. A. E. Hunt, who in a stirring address, reported elsewhere paid a high tribute .to those who had responded to tie call of king and country, and earnestly exhorted those for whom they fought and fell to live Uses worthy of such great sacrifice. He then, called upon Sir Alfred Robin to unveil the tablet, which, covered by a Union Jack, rested temporarily against the pulpit, blit will eventually be placed in the vestibule of the church so that all entering in may seo it.
Reverently drawing aside the flag, Sir Alfred' Robin said: —“I unveil this memorial tablet to the honour of those connected with" Cambridge termed Congregational Church, who went forth ana fought,. bled. : and died, in the cause of freedom' and right, for the glory of God, and the honour of King and country.” , All present then stood np while the organist played the “Dead March in Saul” ; and the benediction brought the sendee to a close. The memorial tablet and roll off honour consists of a handsome brass plate beautifully engraved and mounted oil a slab of marble.
