Also to-morrow there will be racing at Westport and Matamata. Wellington, Westland, and Avoddale nominations close to-day. Acceptances are ' due to-day for Auckland and Feilding. Trentham trainers leave for Masterlon this morning with the teams which are engaged at the Wairarapa centre to-morrow. That onee-good sprinter Koesian has broken down, and lias been sent home to his owner. Comment is being tried over hurdles. The other day she was tried with Vascular as instructor, and she jumped smartly and well. Halifax is galloping well at Trentham, but ho was doing the same just before the Wanganui meeting, at which ho failed. Although he is one of the favourites for the Great Autumn, in his work on the track Foo Chow is doing nothing tfeat is at all likely to set the Thames on fire. It was a peculiar coincidence, says “Sir Modred,” in connection with the Awarua Handicap, the leading event of the last day of the S. R.C. autumn meeting, that the three placed horses. Radial, Jock, and Rorke’s Drift should be trained by three brothers in different stables, 1 viz., R. .McKay, the winner, A. McKay, Jock, and W. McKay, Rorke’s Drift. Most people connected with the sport will be more than surprised to hear that the well-known horseman, T. Pritchard, has had his license cancelled. One of the older generation of riders, Pritchard was doing well in the saddle of late, and in a modest way was riding quite a fair share of win Hers. It is understood that his license was taken away following on a report from an official of the Racing Conference. It is certain that more will be heard of the matter. Pritchard is a competent horseman, and his services were well hooked up for coming meetings. It is reported from the south that Arrowsmith is running out in the paddock, and is being let down in condition. His injured leg is to get a good blistering, after which, it is hoped, he will 6tand a preparation. In the face of recently-published statements, it is interesting to see that the secretary of the Auckland Racing Club explains that the permit for the erection of the new stand was issued last August, in addition to permits for certain alterations issued by the City Council, and, as these were not sufficient, the club applied to the Board of Trade, and secured a permit on Tuesday last which would enable the contractor to finish his work, which Was not extensive, and did not involve thousands of pounds. In a six-furlong gallop at Riccarton this week, Gloaming finished 100 yards in front of his stable mate, Rossini. Pyjama got home again yesterday, and, judging by the very- fair price he paid, his connections had a good win. B. DEELEY LOSES HIS LICENSE. FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, March 17. The Auckland District Racing Committee to-day cancelled the license of the well-known jockey, B. Deeley.
