THE B’ GRADE CONTEST. FBR FRBHB ASSOCIATION. < NELSON, March 17. The B -Grade contest wag won by the Bth. South Canterbury Mounted Rifles Band with 283 points. Westport Garrison'. scored 278 points Gisborne City 277, Palmerston North Municipal 269, Greymouth Citizens’ 266, Christchurch Tramways 257, Nelson National Reserve 246, 9tn Hiawke’s Bay and Miasterton -Municipal 236, Ist Canterbury Regimental Band 221. A recount in the Grade test competition resulted in Westport Garrison and Gisborne City being placed equal for second place. 33 Flat-Soprano Cornet .Solo.—J. Harding- MasteTton Municipal. SO (points; J. McLean, St. Hilda. 85; W. Francis, Wanganui Garrison, 81. B Flat Cornet Solo.—B. Wills, Invercargill Hibernian, 99 points; F. Lound, Marton, 96; R. A. Wills, Invercargill, 85; W. H. Osborne, Sth South Canterbury. 94. The judge said the playing was of a very fine standard; better than for sorno time, and he regarded the winner as a marvel. There were twenty-one competitors.
