As indicative of trade depression, a prominent local business man tala a “Times” reporter yesterday that a number of large firms, already “feeling the pinch,” have adopted the method of sending quite new goods to auction rooms for disposal. “And . the auctioneers,” he added, “are disposing of them very quickly.” Chatting with a “Times” representative yesterday concerning trade depression, a local merchant drew attention tq what he termed tho unusually large number of firms who are now suing for the recovery of debts. This he interpreted as a sign that they are now feeling the want of money more than has been the case for very many years- .
