RESOLUTIONS AT CONFERENCE. Fla PRI3S9 ' ASSOCIATION. * / ASHBURTON, March 16. At the W.C.T.U. session to-day the following resolutions were passed advocating the need for the establishment of an institution, other than prison, for detention of young female offenders: also a scheme whereby prisoners and persistent defaulters in maintainance oases be employed upon compulsory reproductive work, the money earned to be devoted to the support of the dependents; against the compulsory principle as ineffective to Slav venereal disease; against the principle of arrest on suspicion with a com-, puleory examination as in the proposed Social Hygiene- Bill, and favouring a quiet extension of facilities for the free treatment of patients voluntarily presenting themselves by opening clinics; a'so education in sex hygiene with improvement in the provisions for public health and decency.
