MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
THE COURTENAY PLACE FATALITY.
In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday consideration was given to the charge of manslaughter against Charles William Taylor, arising out of the death of the lad John Henry Grayndier, resulting from an accident at Courtenay place, on February 22nd. It will be remembered that the lad with his brother was crossing Courtenay place when he was struck by a motor-car driven by Taylor, sustaining injuries as the result of which he subsequently died at the hospital. The evidence given yesterday was on similar lines to that tendered at the inquest, and at its conclusion accused pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was fixed at £IOO and one surety of a similar amount. Mr H. F. O’Leary was counsel lea the accused.
