RETURNS CALLED FOR.
Regulations in regard to the sale and purchase of wheat and. the fixation of prices, were published in a "Gazette Ecttraordiuary issued yesterday. By Order-in-Council it is unlawful for any person, whether as principal, agent, or otherwise, to purchase any wheat other than feed wheat, unless in accordance with the terms laid down in the War Regulations. A wheat grower, however, is permitted to .transfer to another grower any quantities not exceeding in the aggregate 100 bushels for use as seed wheat. All purchases and sales of wheat by the Government will be effected through the agency of brokers appointed by the Board of Trade. Operations will be supervised by a wheat controller, with headquarters at Christchurch.
On or before Jume 7th, 1921, every grower of wheat will be required to make to the Wheat Controller a return showing, as at the 3lst day of May, 1921 i The number of bushels of each variety of wheat grown by him and threshed, but not yet sold and delivered; how much of euoh wheat still lies on the grower's farm; the location of any snch wheat which is stored or held elsewhere; the estimated quantity or wheat, in bushels, which the grower has still unthreshed, the quantities of each variety of wheat to by stated separately; the probable date of threshing and delivery to the market. Xu the case of wheat remaining unthreshed on th§ Slat day of May, 1921, the grower is required, within one Week after the threshing thereof, to make a return showing the actual yield of each variety. Every flourmiller carrying on business in New Zealand is required! to make bv the same date a return showing: His probable requirements of wheat for milling for the period between the let day of March, 1921, and the 28th day of February, 1922; his carry-over of stocks of wheat, flour, bran and pollard as at the 28th day of February, 1921.
