PURCHASES TO DATE. TOTAL OF .£156,539,778 IN SIX YEARS--52 MILLIONS FOR MEAT. Some very large purchases of New Zealand meat, cheese, butter, etc., have been made by the Department of Imperial Government Supplies, the total to date being over 156^. millions. TOTAL PAYMENTS.

A total of 3,137,769 crates of cheese were purchased, of which 62,846 were lost in transit. The biggest purchase was made in crates.
