WRONG SIDE OF LEDGER
CITY TRAMWAYS ACCOUNT. BIG DEBIT IN FINANCIAL k YEAR TO DATES. Commenting on fte financial results of the corporation tramways during the lour weeks ended January sth, the Mayor pointed out at last night’s meeting of the City Council that there was a credit balance of £4497 for the period as against a credit of £3574 for the corresponding period of last year. There must be no misunderstanding that credit, remarked the Mayor. A lot of concession tickets had been bought up in anticipation of the increase in fares, and the fact appeared to be neglected ' in the increase in the monthly return. For the forty weeks of the fimucpl year to date a debit balance was shown of £5346, as against a credit for the same period of 1919-20 of £10,567, a decrease of £15,913. How that debat would be wiped off in the remaining three months of the year would, depend upon the weather, the disposition of. the people to travel, and other circumstances.
