SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP
“ARNST’S CLAIM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.” SUGGESTIONS BY BARRY, Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, (deceived February 10, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, February 9. Ernest Barry, in a letter to the “Daily Telegraph,” says: “Arnst’s claim to the sculling championship by default does not concern me, but before he considers world-title again be should look to honours iu his own country, • There are several men in Australia who think they can heat him and have persistently challenged him. I had a long innings, and I think it best to retire as champion. That Arnst or anyone else should claim the title in consequence will not be tolerated by any section of sporting men. I suggest that the championship should be deoided in each country where sculling is encouraged, that is, in England, Canada, Australasia, and America, and the champions could then be brought together. This would mean a gteat boom in a great sport.’*
