DEATH OF V.C. HERO.
FATAL FALL FROM HORSE. The death occurred at Melbourne ie» cently of Sergeant Maurice Buckley. Y.C.. I'.C.M. He was thrown from a horse t* Boolarra, and as ha appeared to be seriously injured he was brought to Metbcurne in an ambulance. It became necessary to operate upon him, and, although at one stage there were hopes that ho would recover, a rtdapee oncurred. Sergeant Buckley won' the Victoria Cross on September lßth. 1918. when rile Australians were making history in thefr great advance at Le Vergnier. He iiihlmhl a strong enemy post, which, was holding no the advance, and dealt with it so effectively that his comrades .-were again able to go ahead. On several other sessions the splendid-gallantry of Ser ■ geant Buckley was brought to notice, fit belonged, to the 13tb -
