NEW MILITARY DISTRICTS
AND COMMANDING OFFICERS. ißtegu latkms 6onsis.tw.ting throe instead of four military districts in the Dominion were gazetted yesterday. The following is the description of the three districts! Northern Military District, comprising the land district of Auckland; headquarters, Auckland. Central Military District, comprising the land districts of Wellington, Taranaki, and Hawke’s Day; headquarters, Palmerston North. Southern Military District, comprising the land, districts of Canterbury, Nelson, Westland, Marlborough, Otago and Southland ; headquarters, Christchurch. Each military district may be subdivided for. administrative purposes under such designations and with such boundaries as the commandant may from time to time direct. Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) Harry Rowland Potter, C.M.G.. New Zealand Staff Corps, is appointed temporarily to command the Northern military district: Colonel Charles William Melvill, C. 8., D.S.O., New Zealand Staff Corps, to command the Central military district; and Colonel Robert Young, C. 8., C.M.G.. D. 5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, to command the Southern military district. «.
