It is the intention of thw Wellington Watersiders’ Athletic Club to welcome the crew </f # H.M.S. Chatham by holding a bhr athletic display. The Victorian Golf Association has definitely approved of the movement to send J. H. Kirkwood, the open champion. of Australia and New Zealand, to England, to compete in the open championship of Great Britain. ’ With the object of raising the amount necessary to defray the expenses of the trip, estimated to cost £IOOO, it has been decided by the association to circularise golf clubs throughout Victoria, and also to Beck tlic co-operation of the leading clubs and organisatiohs in the other States and in Neiv Zealand. Arrangements have been made with Mr F. .T. Nathan, of Joseph Nathan and Co.. Wellington, to accept subscriptions on behalf of the Melbourne promoters of the scheme.
