CITY IMPROVEMENT
ORIENTAL BAY PROMENADE. The electric light department, of the Oity Council has recently completed a deckled improvement on the water*, front at Oriental Bay by the Gint-nTtn fckm of a number of electric lights ob the esplanade. The bay is a most papa, hr resort, especially on summer evenings, and in order that gfenw. and visitors may enjoy the walk on ff* esplanade on evenings when there is no moon, a set of powerful rights have been installed by the corporation officers, under the supervision of Mr George Laudblan, city electrical mi. gineer. In JWer to carry the lights, tnrofrn standards have been erected, each 160 feet from the other, seven standard* being on’ the south side and five on the north side of the band rotunda. Each standard has a duster of five Tampa, the top one of each, duster being of 125 watts, and controlled by n separate "switch ar as to enable them to be nsed when required. The remaining four lamps in each duster have a 75 sari capacity. All the' lamps -are enclosed in opalescent globes, so as to soften and diffuse the light, the effect being a "beautiful soft light with an even dstribution.
