FIREARMS ON WHARF
OHIARIG® AGAINST SHIP'S ENGINEER. The seaapd engineer of the American steamer BeHbuiokle, by name Edward William. Turner, who created some excdtemeat on the Queen’s wharf ad Wedreeday evening by discharging a revolver, was again brought before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., ait the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, this time on a charge of attempt.! u-t to do grievous bodily harr.i to -i Coffins Jby discharging a loaded poatol -at him. Accused also stands charged with presenting a firearm ah Coffins, discharging a firearm without reasonable cause, af carrying a " revolver without sufficient excuse, and of being drunk whilst in charge of a firearm. Qhuaf-Detoative Ward asked for a ren and until next Wednesday, hut Mr J. C’Donovan, who appeared for Turner opposed the appboation, and asked that the case' be taken as soon os possible. He pointed out tbat hits ebent was an American, and the boat to which he belonged would be sailing shortly. The Chief-Detective interjected : He is liable to fourteen year’s imprisonment, whereupon Mr Hunt asked: That does not imply that be will get it. The proceedings will be taken at 9.30 a.m. to-day.
