BANK OFFICERS’ GUILD
DOMINION CONFERENCE. GROWTH OF MOVEMENT. The second annual conference of the executive council of the New Zealand Bank Officers’ Guild, which has been in session in Wellington during the past three days, concluded its deliberations yesterday. The councillors, numbering 31, representing the various banks in the Dominion, were present and much important business affecting the welfare of bankergenerally was dealt with., The annual report and balance-sheet, as presented bv the executive committee, were duly adopted. The president gave a review of the work of the executive committee during the past The membership wns shown to be over 1750, and rapidly increasing. Considerable progress had been made- in carrying out the guild’s objects. Reference was made to the establishment of the official publication—“ The Banker,” and to the action of the II nj versitv Senate in acceding to the request, of tho guild' for the institution of a diploma of banking. Gratification -was expressed with th*. growth of the guild movement in New Zealand. The discussions on the numerous remits submitted were of a high order, and indicated the growing inter- ? being manifested by bank officers m matters concerning themselves and their profession. During the period of the conference the councillors, together with members of the various domestic committees, waited upon the executive officers of their respective hanks, and conferred with them on questions of mutual interest The president, Mr H. J. King, stated he was unable to accept re-electton on account of his. health, which intimation was received with very deep regret. Steps are being taken to. bare him e 1 acted a life member of the guild in recognition of the sr-lendid services he had rendered. The following were elected as hearers for the ensuing year: President. Mr A. G. Henderson -Wellington) - vice-nrpsidents, Messrs -J. H. Baxtc (Auckland). R. N, K. Swanston (Wellington). G. March (Christchurch), and J. J. McLeod (Dunedin): executive committee. Messrs W. E. G. Poqualin, W. B. Williams. A. M. Nicholson.' C. A. MacDonald. J. D. Adams. W. C. E. Rohner, H. J. King, R. W. Stevens, end J. Fitzsimmons: hon_-auditor, Mr H. A. Templer; domestic committees were- also elected. The conference, which was most successful, was brought to a close with a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman, general seeretnrv. and the past year’s executive committee, .
