CfTAKI TO GREYTOiWN. @ Mr Chtchpole, contractor for the work of improving the track across the Tararuas from Otaki .to Ga-eytown, paid a visit to the locality, and together with. Mr A- R- Knox, a member of the Otuki committee, completed the distance from the Forks to Dorman (writer; the “Times” correspondent). Althoifgh the work has only been in hand for the past six weeks, splendid progress has been made, and the track, so fai), has been improved beyond recognition. The rough walk from Table Top tjo Dennan is now in fine order, while from Tiro Tiro Point to Table Top the locality resembles a welllaid out botanical garden, innumerable species of lovely New Zealand flora presenting a glorious sight. At present there is-only a pack track to Te M!ui. Mora hut, but from here on to Dennan the track is so improved that at least three-quarters of an hour is saved-on the 'journey. The cantracing party to go over the first portion of the journey and improve tlie track, and make it possible to pack from “The Forks” to Table Top. While at the latter place tho contractors camped in a field of mountain flowers, and during their stay, made a good track to the spring found on New Year’s Day by an Otaki party. Tourists now wishing to make the trip across the Tararuas should lose no tame in organising as the mountain flora is worth seeing, the going is easy, while splendid views should be obtained. :
