AMERICAN TRIBUTE TO- MISS DURACK. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. NEW TORE, January 26. New York newspapers express regret at Miss Fanny Durock’s reported retirement from competitive swimming, and declare that it would he interesting to see the result of a race with Miss Bleibtrey. The *New York “Sun’’ says: “Even in an age of swimmers, Miss Du rack was an aquatic marvel. Indeed, she might be called a ‘supers mermaid,’ so amazing were some of her feats in the water.” All the authorities contend that she ia ,one of the greatest swimmers of . either sex known to the world of sport.
