LAND AND INCOME TAX bill to be introduced this week: MANY SECOND READINGS DONE. "The Land and Income Tax is to be introduced early this week," stated tho Prime Minister to a "Now Zealand Times" representative yesterday afternoon. The Education Department's Estimates, it is understood, are not likely to bo taken before Friday next. To-morrow Mr Massey has given a half-promise to allow time for the discussion of printed answers"'to questions, three sets of which will then be accunmlated. For tho lost, the business to be taken during the week is not of very great importance. The Government, it is believed, will take the opportunity of completing the interrupted debate, adjourned from August 25th, on the report of the Lands Committee with reference to the To Aroha Crown Leases Bill. It is quite possible, though the bill was discussed at considerable length on the previous occasion, that it may" again be the subject of wordy warfare, many Liberal and Labour members taking strong exception to the converting of the Crown leaseholds in question into freeholds.
