PREMIER DROPS DEPUTATION A HINT. i "We don't intend to raise,a compulsory loan for public works purposes," the Prime Minister stated to a deputation yesterday. • "There will be a loan for soldiers' land settlement and for cleaning up in connection with the war," Mr TVfassey continued, "and, in all probability, there will be a. compulsory clause, but I am of opinion that there will be sufficient patriotism, and. that the inducement will be so jiood, that it will not be necessary to bring the compulsory clauses intp operation.".
