Furkert, it ifi announced, has been appointed engineer-in-chiet and .Under-Secretary to the Public Works Department; but when the reorganisation of tho department is finally completed it is possible that a change may bo made in the designation of his post. Mr C. J. McKenzie; formerly staff engineer at Wellington, has been appointed inspecting engineer, Wellington. '<■ _ • A number of other appointments, it is understood, have yet to be made.
