FUNERAL AT GISBORNE.

IMPRESSIVE SCENES AT LAST. SAD RITES.

PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, September 3'. The funeral of the. lato Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald was one of the largest ever held in Gisborno, the whole district, from Napier to the East Cape and Tauranga being represented, as well as friends from Wellington. The body arrived from the south this morning, and was taken from the steamer Arahura to the Presbyterian Church, where a service was held, and the pallbearers were: The Hon. A. T Ngata, Mr G. W. Forbes, Mfl?., and Mr f! F. Hockly, M.P., Mr G. Wildish (Mayor.of Gisborne), Mr C. E. Matthews (chairman of the Cook County), Mr L. B. Tullock (chairman of- tho Waikohu County). ' ' The mourners included the- Hon. W. Nosworthy, Mr T. E: Y. Seddon, M.P., representatives of Government departments, and members of every local body in the Poverty Bay. and Bay of Plenty districts. Tho" motor-cars in the cortege ex. tended almost a mile, and the route from town to near tho Makaraka cemetery was lined, with people.
