MOTOR TRUCKS FOR CITY

BRITISH OB AMERICAN f The'tender of Lsyland Motors, Ltd., for the supply of motor trucks to the City Council was recommended to the council last night by the finance and property committee. ; * ■' Councillor J. Hutchison said the tender was not tho lowest, and he moved that the' tenders be reconsidered. - "It may be the lowest British tender/', said Councillor Hutchison, "but American motors were being used by the council and were doing good work, and are lower in price." Councillor T. Forsyth, in seconding tho motion, said thV time had arrived when the vehicles purchased by the council should be standardised.. The Mayor was pleased to hear councillors advocating . the standardising of goods, and the council should make a staSt now with British goods. Councillor Eraser said ho was desirous of knowing what tho difference in the, tenders were, and the Mayor said that ho would' hare them placed. boforo the council, in committee later in the evening. It was later an nounced that the tender had been accepted. . ' .
