* RUGBY APPEAL. " CONSIDERED BY BOARD. An appeal board constituted under the rules of the. Rugby Football Union lor the purpose" of considering appeals of players from decisions of the Rugby Union, sat last night to determine on appeal by T. R. Brooks. against' a decision by tho union suspending him for two plajing Saturdays for misconduct in the Miramar r. Marists third grado match. Tho board was comprised of Dr P. MoEwedv (chairman), Mr A. Campbell, and Captain W. Hardham, V.C. Broets was ordered off the field ry Eofereo T. Jones for commenting on a decision by him. Subsequently, the leferee reported the matter to the union, at the same time making several other charge against the player concerned. For the purposes-of the appeal, the board only dealt with the charge for which Brooks was ordered off, and after .considering the facts thev dismissed the appeal. : They also directed that the other' charges be expunged from the minutes of the Ru«rbv ffnicu. The t!e.posit of .£1 was refunded. . THE NEW ZEALAND UNION LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. The New Zealand Rugby Union roe' last evening, Mr G. W. Siade presidine. There were also present: Messrs W. Paton, S. S. D«ans. D. Kitto, J. T. M. Pike, and R. T. Bailey. THE MOASCAR CUP. The Otago Rugby Football Union wrote stating that the association had written to the schools taking part in the schools tourney and submitted tho suggestion made by the New Zealand Union regarding the Moascar Cup. Three out of the four schools favoured the suggestion that teams takine part in the tournament should compete for the Moascar Cup, and tbat the winning'team in the tournament should cplay the winning team of the North Tsland tournament. The committee strongly resommended that the play-off every year should be held alternately in the North and South Island.—The matter was held over in the meantime. SUSPENSIONS AND APPEALS. It was decided, on the motion of Mr R. T. Bailey, seconded by S. S. -Deans, to draw the attention of the Wellington Rugby Union to the fact that when any person had been suspended or disqualified bv any affiliated union that there, could be an appeal only against such suspension as has providod by rules 34 and 35 of the New Zealand Rugby Union and, that' all local rules must be in conformity with those rules. The committee was of the opinion that Tule 43 of tho Wellington Rugby Union could »>t be applied in such cases. The Wellington Rugby Union submitted the t-vidence in tho case of .t,he suspension of A. Smillie, a Petone nlayer, and recommended the lifting of the suspension. The union decided that no action be taken in the matter.

The Otago Rugby Union forwarded an appeal by the Alnambra Glulj against tho decision of the»Otago Union in dealing with a nlayer who had been reported by an official of the Otaigo Union for rough play.—lt was resolved to forward the appeal to the appeal committee.
