The New Zealand-New South Wales Busby contest attracted 10,000 people. The game was determinedly waged throughout, but was characterised more by individualism than combination. Wogan replaced Farquhar in th-j New South Wales team, and Badelay played instead of Algar for New Zealand. New South Wales first; showed to advantage. Wogan was responsible for a fine burst after intercepting'. Badieley set the Blaoke moving to the New South Wales goal, and from a dribbling rush Belliss passed to Baiird, who orossed. Roberts converted. New Zealand - 5 New South Wales —. 0 Steele was shortly afterwards pulled down near the line, but' Belliss, again figuring in a dribbling movement, capped the effort with a try; Roberts converting. New Zealand-. _.....„„.„._.. 10 New South Wales 0 The blues responded with a three-quax-ter attack, Wogan securing and crossing. Lawton converted. New Zealand 10 New South Wales 5 Storey, shaping well on the wing, accepted a cross-kiok, from Elliott, transferred to Belliss, who returned to Storey, thj latter crossing. The try was not conveirted. New Zealand 13 New South Wales New South Wales . retaliated with clever passing efforts among the backs, but generally, faulty, handling checked progress. Lawton and Raymond, after fine exchanges, assumed a dangerous position, Lawton eventually crossing and also converting. Play was much of a muchness in the greater part of the second half, there being flashes by both teams. Steele crossed after a splendid run, and a field goal by Tilyard soon after brought the fcore to 23-10. Wogan and Raymond replied with a great effort from their own goal, the ball being eventually scrummaged- on New Zealand's line. Fox secured and scored, and Lawton goaled.
