YESTERDAY’S SITTING. A number of week-end offenders for insobriety were dealt with by Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, yesterday morning. George Garrigall, with three previous convictions against ' him, was fined 40«, in default seven days’ imprisonment. BREAKING AND ENTERING. A youth, named Robert George McNeil, was charged with breaking and entering the premises of Tolley and Sons, with criminal intent. Accused was remanded until Wednesday, July 14th. THEFT OF BLANKETS. . Tom Cox (19) appeared to answer a charge of theft of blankets from Mary Paris and. the Salvation Army. It was contended for accused that he had not been long in New Zealand, and had ■ got into difficulty, which was re-' sponsible for his action. The magistrate admonished accused, and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon within six months, and, to make good the value of the stolen goods. THEFT FROM Y.M.O.A. William George Allen, with a ■ record of about thirty-tnreo offences, again appeared, this time on a charge of theft from the Y.M.O.A. It was stated that accused misappropriated the money from a street collection. He was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. For a further charge of theft at Wanganui ho was remanded until the 20th inst. to appear in that city. , MAINTENANCE OASES. Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., dealt with several applications for maintenance yesterday in the Magistrate’s Court. George A. Thurston was ordered to pay 10s per week towards the support of his four children, at present in the Wellington Receiving Home; ■ Charles Stevenson McCabe was ordered to pay _£SB 10s for arrears in respect of maintenance, in default to serve two months in gaol. John Green was ordered to pay 30s per week towards the support of his wife and two children, and a separation order was granted his wife. G. S. Hodgkinaon was ordered to contribute 45s per week towards the support of his wife and children.
