GALLIPOLI GRAVES

A CURIOUS DISCOVERY UNKNOWN GRAVES OF ANZACS AND NAVALS. Bv Telegraph-Press Assn.—Copyright Australian and >'.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, July 3. Mr AV. M. Hughes describes a curious recent discovery of a cemetery constructed by the Turks in the earliest days of tho Galtipoli campaign. it consisted wholly of unsuspf-cted graves of Anzacs and a. few British naval men. The cemetery is 300 yards east of the Lone Pine. It was first located during Captain Bean's last tour of Gallipoli, far beyond tho Anzac lines. An investigation of isolated graves in the vicinity shows that the cemetery contains fifty bodies of tho bravest of the Anzacs. who apparently took part in the forward fighting. Discs found in the graves ensure identification in almost every case. The discovery shows the fate of men hitherto missing.
