PERMANENT SOLDIERS’ CLUB

A WELLINGTON PROPOSAL. MEMBERS TO DECIDE. The member’s of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’* Association will shortlv be asked to decide whether as a. body they, favour the establishment of a permanent local Soldiers’ Club. This proposal has been discussed at recent meetings of the executive of the local branch of. the association, and it has been decided to put the matter to the members. Accordingly, when sending out. the annual report and balance "beet to each member at the cud of this month, a circular is to be enclosed asking: ‘‘Are you in favour of the establishment of an institution which will serve as n social club, and where the offices necessary for the various activities of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association will be situated?” Further action in the matter of the club will be taken according to the replies. The present club-house is controlled by a joint committee of civilians and returned men, and the expenses in the past have been borne by public subscription.- The Club-house Society has notified, the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association of its intention to end its functions, and if m,embers of the association desire to maintain the club, fresh arrangements will have to be made.
