BOYS' INSTITUTE
CONCERT AND PRIZE-GIVING. Last Saturday evening about 120 toys gathered together in the social hall, the occasion being tho annual prize-giving ceremony. Prior to the presentation, a short musical programme was rendered by. an efficient orchestra, under the oonductorship of Mr Johns. The following also kindly assisted:—Mrs Ritchie, Mr Johns and Master Seber and Banks. Several choruses well known to the boys were sung with great gusto. Mrs Moorhouse presented the following boys with the trophies won during 1918: Athletic champions—»kinior cup and ■medal, Fred Tyson; runner-up, W. MoIvor. Intermediate cup and medal, R. Dutch; runner-up, A. Osmond. Senior oup and medal, G. Conway; runnerup, P. Wilson and S. J. Harding. N. Norman, H. Hebeen and S. Dempster also won prizes at the Labour Day sports. Swimming—S. Dempster, A. Humphries. Cricket —First century for season, (S. Dempster (bat presented by the director, Mr Inwood). Collecting campaigns—A. Ratson, Frank Tyson and A. Blackett. Boy who secured most members during 1919—N. Teague. Ping-pong—L. McWilliams, -A. Stohr, O. Oudby, B. Whitburn, F. Hinoholiff, J. Banks, S. Dempster and J. Burke. Table croquet—H. Cummins, W. Robinson, E. Nelson, G. Burton, I. Thomson, H. Greenfield, J. Banks and W. Nicolle. Dratights—A. Sdherson and A. Osmond. Bagatelle—H. Cummins, L. Hawkins and J. Banks. Most improved member—J. Kay. Sunday service prizes—N. Teague, B. Allan, T. Allan, H. Allan, W. Nicholas, W. Robinson, Frank Tyson, Fred Tyson, A. Teague, O. Wickham. B. Wickham, F. Dixon, F. Hinchcliff, A. McGrath, J. Mclvor, O. Rogers. P. Ba-rrow, W. Molvor Mr Auld, of the Wellington Football Association, presented S. Dempster, of last season's sth A team, with the 6th A Charity Cup, which was won by the Institute last season. The ceremony, which was presided over by Mr L. T. Watkins (vice-president) was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. After supper had teen partaken of the National Anthem was sung and with cheers for the director the function concluded.
