KEEPING PACE WITH BRITAIN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, March 22. The United States is adding eighteen capital ships to the Fleet, with the object of beating British sea power. According to the chairman of the Naval Committee of the House of Representative, the United • States will possess in 1924- fortv-seven -capital ships, compared with Britain'-s sixty: but those of the United States will be more modern, and consequents their gunpower will probably be equal.
