MEETINGS. WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. RECEPTION TO H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES. I HEREBY convene a Meeting of Citizens in the Town Hall for TUESDAY (TO-DAY ), the 23rd instant, at 3 o’clock p.m., to make arrangements for a Citizens’ Welcome to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on the occasion of his visit to Wellington. The meeting will be of ia consultative character for the purpose of setting up Committees to deal with the matters of: Street Decorations. The Citizens’ Ball. The Entertainment of the Men of H.M.S. Renown And also to assist as necessary the Education Board with regard to the Children’s Welcome. Any person who shall effect a Policy and who has an interest in the same shall become a member of the Society and bo bound bv.the By-laws, Rules, and Regulations thereof, and such person shall continue to bo a member so long ns he shall hare an interest in such

Policy." BY-LAW 2 (b).—After the word ''form" in the first line, insert the following words:— , . "Ox, in the caso of any member by virtue of an assignment of a Policy, as stated in tie notice given to the Society of such assignment.’ BY-LAW 4.—Omit By-law 4 and insert in lieu thereof tire following : "4. Any not being a minor, may assign his Policy and his interest therein, but no assignee shall be recognised by the Society until notice in writing of the assignment shall have been given to the Society and such, assignment shall at the expense of the assignee have been admitted by the Society, nor shall any assignee become a member of the Society nor be allowed to voto by virtue of an assignment of a Policy unless such assignment • be absolute." BY-LAW 5 (b). —Omit By-law 5 (b) and insert in lieu thereof the following: "5 (b). If the life assured by any Policy shall, whether sane or insane, die by his own hands within one year and thirty days from the commencement of the risk is defined by the Policy, provided always that should any other person have a bona fide interest in such Policy, acquired for value in money or money’s worth, then the Society shall be liable iff pay to such person an amounfi Ajiial to such interest if tjie will ad-BY-LAW 23 23 and insert in lieu theraciUihe following:— "23. The remunefroon to be paid to tbo Directors shall bo four thousand five hundred pounds per annum. Such sum shall be distributed amongst the directors in such manner as the Board shall from time to lima decide.” BY-LAW 31.-Await By-law 31 and insert in leu thereof the following -. — "31. The remuneration to be paid to each of the Auditors shall bo five hundred pounds per annum." BY-LAW 45 (b),—Omit all the words after "say”~in the fifth lips, and insert in lieu thereof the following:— “Etvery member, not being a minor, shall have one voto for each aggregate .£IOO of assurance or endowment, and one vote for each aggregate JJS of annuity, under any Policy or Policies registered an the books of, the Society in his name, but no member shall have more than twenty yotes in all." BY-LAW 52.—Omit the sentence commencing with the words "Any additions bo made,” and ending with the word "Board,” and insert in lieu thereof the following sentence: — “Any additions so made may, subject to such regulations and conditions as may be prescribed- by the Board, bo appropriated by way of reduction of future premiums, or may be commuted for such cash sum or dn such other manner as inay be sanctioned by the Board.’ Any member unable to attend the Meeting personally may vote by proxy A form of proxy may be obtained by any member on written or personal application at anv Office of the Society. Prosy forms, duly completed, must be lodged at the Society’s Hoad Office, 87, Pitt street, Sydney/ forty-eight hours at tho least before the hour of the Mooting at which they are bo be used, and Powers of Attorney to bo acted upon by persons wishing to voto must he similarly produced for inspection.
