ALLEGED PREFERENCE TO SOUTH AMERICA. AUSTRALASIAN SHIPMENTS SUFFER. Australian and N.Z. Table Association. LONDON, March 13. Some comment has been .aroused recently in connection with tho quicker discharge which it is alleged is secured in London for South American meat. It is now pointed out that South American liner* have brought no chilled meat for some months past. In accordance with Government instructions, tho liners have been bringing frozen the same descriptions of beef which had previously (been carried chilled. It ie- clear, however, that South American moat reaches the markets in the United Kingdom much more quickly than Australasian meat, which is also suffering from the length of time it has been in store. It is assorted that until tho vast stocks of old meat have been disposed of. the good character earned before the war by fresh Australian and New Zealand frozen meat will not be fully redeemed. It is further contended that 'not much progress can be made with, thedisposal of moat until it is offered at a( pr[i(oo near or fburpence fihan jiao present wholesale price of sixpence a pound.
