ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Metres* Ratepayers’ and Electors’ Association was hold last night, the present (Mr Cox) presiding over a fair attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. In presenting the fifth annual report of the’ proceedings and the result of the work of the association, the bon. secrotary said that the association had much j pleasure in, knowing that it was growing in membership and vitality. The members at present totalled C 5, while the; number of residents who had purchased* homes in the district had greatly increased during the past six months. The, committee looked for increased interest in the affairs of the suburb, as although thioj pstociation had not accomplished what it aspired to„ its requests had been steadily kept before the authorities, and no. doubt would receive the promised attention in due course. The want of a school with the advent of trams was felt, and the Education Board,had been urged to secure a site while land values are low. Included in the urgent and necessary works to be agitated fon during uue coming year were -tne completion of water and drainage ito some important parks, a comprehensive storm water scheme for th* district, am* the widening and completion of Sutherland, Hurnsey, and Houghton Bay roads, which, if made safe for traffic, would be_ one of the best and most popular drives about Wellington.
