EASTER REGATTA

n::;liminabt arrangements. the Wellington ' Bowing Association carried- the 'arrangements --'for -their Easter regatta a step further at their last meeting. After considerable discussion it was ultimately decided that in the event of northerly weather prevailing on Easter Saturday the regatta will be postponed until Monday, when it will be held either at Wellington or Petone, as the wind decrees. This cburss was adopted with, a view to;, making every possible effort to allow the public to witness the racin~ and also to avoid, if possible, railing the boats to Petone. The association appointed the followine officials and •sub-committees-to 'act at the regatta:—Starter, Mr J. EL AViddop; umpire, Mr B. Crawford; judges, Messrs W. J. Gaiidin, - John Hutcheson; and E. W. McVilly; course committee,Messrs Crawford, Mitchell, Tremaine, and Widdop; call committee, Messrs Ford, Godfrey, Galvin, Jackson, and Newton: steamer committee, Messrs Lacer. Marris, and Whi taker; .weather committee, Messrs Crawford, Galvin, >ind Widdot): timekeepers, Messrs Langdon and Ludwig. ,','".'. •„ It is anticipated that the entries will be very large in most of the events—in aome events as manv as twelve ; crews are. expected. Local clubs have their :tram-f ine operations well under way, and ore showing a fairly good standard. ellington Club members have not been doing 6uch consistent work as Star and Petone, but they have the advantage of possessing "combination" in all their crews already. The Star maiden four No. 3 crew is, if anything, favourite, advantage of an- averageweight of 12 stone 71b. .Theicyouths crews are taking a spell just now, as their coach considers that they are on the verge of "sfaleness." Petono crews aro all well under way; their youths four and maiden pair aro going very well. • - :
