WOMAN DIES FROM BURNS

ENYEiLOPED IN FLAMES. A Press Association telegram from Waihi states that a married woman named Graves, died at tho hospital as the result of terrible burns. The deceased had thrown kerosene on the fire in a copper. The flame burst outwards and fired her clothes, iivfiictins severe burns. Death occurred eight hours- after tho accident.

The evidence taken at the inquest on the. body of Mrs J. AV. Graves this afternoon, who succumbed last night as the result of terrible burns showed that the unfortunate woman when her. dress caught tiro rushed panic-stricken out of the washhouse to the main road. She -vvas then enveloped iu flames. A neighbour ran to her assistance and tore off her outer garments and wrapped them round the burning woman. The burns were deep and terrible and scarcely any part of the surface of tho body escaped injury. A., verdict of . accidental death by shock following extensive burno was returned. PLATING WiTH GUNPOWDER. A lad named Rnyner, while playing with gunpowder at Manakau on Saturday, received nasty' injuries to his face through it exploding. There were several falls in the Steeplechase at the Ohinemuri races, and as a result Hamilton, the rider of Lriehland, had his collarbone broken, while Copestake, who had the mount on Kurnalpi, was badly shaken and bruised. The riders of tho other horses which fell escaped injury. FATAL FALL FROM DRAY. CHRISTCHURCH, Marcih 16. A labourer named Thomas Oraythorae, married, fell off a dray at Prebbleton this afternoon and broke his neck. BADLY GORED BY A BULL. PEE PKESS ASSOCIATION. WANNEVIRKE, Maich 16. While taking a bull from a paddock at Norsewood, a farmer named G. Joyner was badly gored. He was rescued m an exhausted condition, and now lies in Dannevirke Hospital in a precarious condition. t CYCLING FATALITY. AUOKLANTJ, March 16. Jeremiah Patrick Jones, when cycling touched a horse driven in a: trap by T. H. Stephens. The bicycle became entangled with the harness, and tho horse fell on Jones, who was picked tip unconscious, and died in hospital from a fractured skull.
