IMPORTANT PROPOSALS
DISCUSSED BY CITY COUNCILLORS. REPORT bTeNGINEER. Several important matters in connection with the development of the city were discussed at a special joint meeting of the finance and tramways committees of tho City Council last evening. Tho meeting was largely attended by members of each committee. The object of tho meeting was to discus? a report furnished by the engineer (Mr W. H. Morton) upon the present condition of the tramway service and various recommendations made hy him in connection therewith, as well as electric power, lighting, etc.
The councillors displaced keen interest in the subjects dealt with, and many' questions were put to and answered by the .council’s officers regarding the proposals outlined. There was considerable discussion upon t)ie report, and the meeting generally approved of the recommendations put forward, which it is understood will come up for ratification nil tho next meeting of the council.
