Dalgety and Company, Limited, ■Wellington. "report having held their usual fortnightly sale of hides, tallow, etc., to-day, when they offered a good catalogue. The usual buyers were in attendance, also several representatives of Australian, firms. All lots were keenly competed for, heavy ox hides advancing 2d to 3d per lb, medium weight ox and cows Id to 2d, and kips also showed a slight advance. For calfskins as high as 30id was obtained, being an advance of 2id on the highest price paid last Bale. ( Prices for tallow were about on a par tith last sale’s rates. CANTERBURY MARKETS. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION*. CHRISTCHURCH. March 12. There is little change to _ report in grain and produce. The price of Garton oata has firmed and they are worth 5s at country stations for good samples. This price is not prompt, there being 'extensive offers. - Growers are expecting values to improve. Until the interisland shipping gets out of its present condition purchases for northern cornsumption will bo very much hampered. Algerians and Dun» are still very firm and any available are eagerly snapped up regardless of a few pence in price. Ail grass and clover seeds, with the exception of cocksfoot, are very firm. Italian rye is worth 6s 6d at country stations and perennial 7s to 7s 3d. White clover has - been sold at 2s 6d. There is a good inquiry for all kinds of seed from the north and a wonderful quantity has been bought for the , Hawke’s Bay district. The cocksfoot crop is proving very costly to dress, the bulk coming forward containing a good deal of fog, etc. This has eased the price for undressed seed. Onions are not much in request. Potatoes are nominally worth. £5 5s to £5 13s at country stations. Eowl wheat is practically non existent as at present sellers are taking wheat this year for milling that in previous seasons would be discarded. The recent bad weather should result in soma prevision in the matter of fowl wheat, hut in any case it -will bo unprecedentedly scarce. WELLINGTON CUSTOMS. Tho Customs revenue received at Wellington yesterday totalled £7612 Os 7d.
