MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. Tho Wellington /City Council met last evening. Councillor G. Frost (Acting-Mayor) presided, and there were also present;—Councillors W. J. Thompson, W. H. Bennett, T. Forsyth, L. McKenzie, J. M. Dale, MiP. -Luckio, J. 0. Shorland, C. H. Chapman, J. Glover, and J. Hutchison. It was resolved:—"That the Wellington Harbour Board be informed that tho council will be prepared to take over the streets known as Waterloo quay extension, Cornwall street, and Fryatf quay. Upon receipt of an undertaking under the seal of the board, to complete the streets shown on the deposited plan, to the satisfaction of the city engineer, before December Slst, 1920.'’ A reduction of ten shillings in the rental of the Khandallah Hall was granted to tho Onslow Progressive Association on tho occasion of tho town-planning lecture given by Mr A. Leigh Hunt. Tho work of improving tho street alignment at Hamilton parade was acproved. The request to provide a handrail at the rights-of-way leading out on to the top of Kclburn parade was acceded to. Authority was given to the city solicitor to frame legislation to complete tho exchange of portion of tho Town Belt at Constable street required for the purposes of a tramway booster station for the area of six acres of laud adjoining the recreation reserve at Lyall Bay, and originally acquired for ‘tramway purposes. The tender of Mr H. Stanford for the erection of a pavilion at tho Kilbirnic Park was accepted.
