PETONE FIRE BOARD
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Petone Eire Board was held at Petoue yesterday, Mr J. W. McEwau being in the chair. There were also present; Messrs 0. R. Smith, D. J. Bews, J. Kerr, D. M. Bedingfiold-and Superintendent Oaynor. EIRE ALARMS. Mr J. Dawson wrote notifying that the new fire alarms were expected by the Moan a, which arrived from San Francisco in December, but so far they had not come to hand. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Dawson for information as to tho probable date of arrival. NEW MOTOR AMBULANCE. Ait the request of the Pfetone Borough Council the board agreed to allow tho new motor ambulance to bo housed at the fire station until suitable accommodation could bo provided. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT. The superintendent reported that for tho quarter ending March. 10th tlio brigade had been summoned on three occasions. An outbreak of fire at tho Woollen Mills was suppressed before any damage was done. The directors forwarded a cheque for £lO towards the social funds, in recognition of the smartness of 'the brigade. The plant, appliances, and alarm system, were at present in first-class working order. The work and conduct of the men werfe more than satisfactory, the drills hold every' week being well carried cut. The report was adopted. On tho recommendation of the superintendent the hoard decided 'to dispose of the horse-drawn fire engine, which was useless for further service. Account® amounting to £216 9s 7d were passed for payment.
