COUNCIL TO BE SUED
HOSPITAL BOARD’S PATIENCE GIVES OUT.
Every year the Napier Hospital Board levies a certain amount of money from all the local bodies in the Hospital district. This amount has been growing; rapidly of late years and porno of the contributing bodies-have tound 1 1 difficult to meet t'ho demand. The Napier Oity Council is one of those bodies, and the last levy has-not been paid. The reason for the non-arrival has been explained to the Hospital Board per medium of nicely-worded letters, and at a meeting of the board this week town clerk wrote enclosing a copy of a letter from the Public Trustee pointing out that the question of lending money to local bodies was being revised. As the council is endeavouring to borrow the amount of the levy from the Public Trust Office this letter explained the further delay. t The _ Hospital Board, however, has tired itself out waiting, for the money and, when the letter was read, the chairman said that he had replied to the letter, _ pointing out that the hoard was tired of receiving copies of letters from the Public Trustee and would much rather receive ‘the amount duo with interest added. Tt was decided to take immediate legal steps to recover the levy.
