THE TRAMWAY SERVICE
DAILY “BREAKS” NECESSARY. MORNING AND . AFTERNOON. :Two somewhat lengthy stoppages la connection with the corporation tramway service occurred yesterday, late in tho morning and afternoon. Mr W. H. Morton, the general manager of the tramways, stated to a “Times” representative last evening that owing to increased difficulties in providing electrical power for the trams and other requirements of the city, it has been found necessary to entirely suspend tho tramway services during two half-hour periods daily—between 11 and 11.30 a.m. and 3AU and 4.10 p.m. This will come into force almost immediately, and,.until further notice a reduced service will be run on all lines. At the same time tho present restrictions In regard M private consumers of electricity will be continued; power will.be .supplied only between the hours of) 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. In considering the question of curtailing the service, said Mr Mortot Inst nighk, the tramway' authoritioi had been faced with the “necessity ol having to effect the two breaks referred to above, or shut down on the supplies to private consumers. “
