FORGERY AND UTTERING
CHARGES AGAINST WOMAN,
AFTER TWO YEARS. Three charges of forgery and uttering were preferred against a young woman, Grace Smith (Mr C. A. L. Treadwell) at the Police Court yesterday, hut the prosecution asked the presiding magistrate, Mr E. Pr S.M., for a remand until Thursday next. Counsel asked that nominal bail be fixed, but Detective-Sergeant Lewis, in objecting, said that the alleged offences were nearly two years old. About ’that time, the accused tfas interviewed by the Police with reference to the matter, hut shortly afterwards she disappeared, and no trace of her was found until recently, when she was located near ' Palmerston North Tim "'i *~A and bail was allowed at 15250 and on© sur, of a like amount.
