MARLBOROUGH RACES

CONCLUDING DAY'S EVENTS. IMARIBBON WINS PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP, (Special to “Times.”) BLENHEIM, March 11. The Marlborough Racing Club vas again particularly fortunate in the weather for tho second day of its autumn meeting. There was a very large attendance, which included visitors from Wellington, Canterbury, Westland, and Nelson. Benefittod by its first day’s racing, the track was in improved order, and by next season it should be on© of the best in the South Island. The fields kept up well, and the racing was full of interest. ATTXLA RETURNS SUBSTANTIAL DIVIDEND. The locally-trained pair, Maritza and Blue Grass, had a decided call in the betting for the Trial Hack Race. Livland and Attila jumped out in front and carried on tho running till well into the home straight. A furlong' from, the post Livland faded right out, leaving Maritza with the task of chasing Attila. Ataritza mad© up considerable ground over the last hundred yards, bat sue wns still two lengths to this bad when the post was reached- .Attila is an aged gelding by Knight Errant, from Chaplet, and his victory brought with it a substantial dividend. FOURTH'WIN WITHIN WEEK. Though giving away up to 156 yards in the Third Handicap Trot, Rothmoor was again sent out favourite. He started off well, and with a mile gone, only Meritorious was in front of him. He went the two miles in 4min 59 3-ssee without the least trouble, and his full capabilities have not yet been discovered, PRINCE DELAWARE TRIES IMARIBBON. The withdrawal of Kebekah, who I* amiss, and Revocation left but a quartette to contest the President’s Handicap. Prince Delaware cut out the running from the barrier rise, and going along the back Imaribbon moved up into second, place, deposing Esperance, Cn turning for home, Imaribbon looked to be winning very easily, but then Prince Delaware came again and was only half a bead behind as -the post was reached.
