BREACHES OF BY-LAWS
PINES IMPOSED ON OFFENDERS. Several charges against persons who were alleged to have committed breaches of tho city by-laws wore dealt with by Messrs I. Salek and A. Hume, J.P.is, at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. A youth, P. AloAuley, was fined 10s, and 7s costs, for riding a bicycle without a l>oll. As ho was unable to give warning to a lady crossing from tho footpath to a tramcar in Lambton quay, he collided with her and knocked her down. Vivian E. J. Carr pleaded guilty to a charge of having driven,a motor-car over the intersection of AVillis and Alanners streets at a greater .speed than 8 miles .per hour. He was fined £l, with 7s costs. William Compton, W. Staco, and W. Shannon were each mulcted 10s and 7s costs for allowing stock to wander. William Gunter, who drove a vehicle at an excessive speed across tho intersection of Taranaki street, and Courtenay place, was fined £2, and costs, 7a.
