"VICTIM OF HOSTILE POLITICAL CAMPAIGN." PARIS, February 21. The Senate was crowded to bear Caillaux's speech in his own defence. Tn order that all the Senators might be able to hear, ho spoke from, the corner of the front tench closest to the seat he occupied when Premier. Caillaux was M good oratorical form. He traced the whole of his career, and indignantly denied that he was evci in collusion with the enemy, though ho admitted that German papers had said ho desired to end tho appalling war. Caillaux urged that he was a victim of a hostile political campaign.
