' Dr Faris, Distriot Health Office!, t interviewed by a "Tinles" represcritaUivo yesterday, said:—"There is n high notification list to-day"; but- 1 want to point out that in many ot the earlier Nelson cases, owing to tho pressure of work on the- doctors, tho formal notifications are only now comuio- to hand. A great num'ber of these are dated January 2Sth and Ist 2nd, or 3rd of February. As a matter ol fact, the epidemic in Nelson is declining Wo got word from our representative there that this is merely an apparent increase in numbers, owinj; to delay on the part of the doctors ju forwarding the notifications by post. The only fresh cases are 70 notified from the mental hospital at Nelson; and these &ic dated February 3rd. so that the big number of notifications recorded gives a false impression. 'L'ho same is more or less true for Wellington city, though here the notifications are not dated so far back; and also for tho Wa'irarapa, Wanganul and the district generally." Replying to questions, Dt. fari* said that lie did not think that any mow restrictions wer«> likely to bo imposed. As the epidemic still remained mild, the ratio of pneumonic -eases being low, there was no nted foi further restrictions; but during this inclement -weather the people ought to look after themselves. The *chooiS vvere closed till further notice; Slid »t was impossible to say at present when the schools could be reoperied._ It depended upon whether the epidemic abated; and so far the chief health officer had no announcement to make on that point; t
